FAQ'S
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces that uses computer imaging to create a series of invisible aligners made of plastic that move your teeth. Each aligner is designed to be worn for about 20-22 hours a day. The patients will need to replace their aligners about once every two weeks. The entire treatment may take up to two years, depending on the severity of your condition. This process is not painful or uncomfortable and will give you a more beautiful smile than ever.
What does Invisalign do?
Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to move teeth. Each tray snaps onto your teeth and applies light pressure to the targeted areas. As you replace your aligners, your teeth will gradually shift into their optimal position. Most adult patients see results after about 12 months of wearing the aligners. You can take them out for eating and brushing your teeth, but you must be diligent about wearing them. The average treatment time for Invisalign is about a year, but it can be completed in as little as six months for mild cases.
How long do I have to wear my Invisalign?
Many orthodontists will advise that Invisalign treatment can take between 6 – 12 months or more, depending on your case. There's no one-size-fits-all for determining how long your treatment will last. That's because every patient will have different tooth alignment issues.
Can I sleep with my Invisalign on?
Yes, it is recommended for you to wear your Invisalign for 20 to 22 hours a day for better results, that includes while sleeping.
What's the difference between Invisalign and braces?
Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign clear aligners are removable, comfortable, and virtually invisible. They are easy to remove for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You also change your aligners about every two weeks. The treatment is usually completed in 12 months. Patients typically see the best results when they wear their aligners twenty to twenty-two hours a day.
Can Invisalign fix an overbite?
Yes, they are used to treat overbite, underbite, and other teeth alignment issues.
Why should I choose Invisalign over braces?
A huge advantage of Invisalign is its comfort. Metal braces can be uncomfortable and can even create sores on the gums. Invisalign aligners are made of plastic, so they won't irritate gums. Additionally, many adults are hesitant about the idea of having metal braces, so they may prefer Invisalign because of its clear nature.
